Sports Knee Injuries
Knee Injuries are one of the most common forms of injury across all sports, from ligament tears to more general overuse injuries
Making up around 40% of sports-related injuries, knee injuries are a common struggle for sports enthusiasts across all levels of play. Offering specialist treatment and support, Mr Owen Wall is a sports knee injury specialist, having 15+ years of experience working with patients, across a range of sports, including football, rugby, martial arts, skiing, cycling and running. As well as his day-to-day work, Owen has active research interests in stem cell cartilage techniques and cartilage repair.
With a sporting background in running and triathlon as well as an active love of skiing, Owen has first-hand experience of sports knee injuries and is an advocate for a consultation-first approach. With sports injuries, it can be easy to incorrectly assume a root cause so identification is vital and using the latest XR, CT & MRI scanners, Owen works with patients to identify the exact problem and offer a suitable treatment plan, aiming to avoid major surgery where possible.
If your knee problem requires surgery, Mr Wall can provide you with a tailored solution. Surgical treatments offered cover all aspects of knee surgery. He is an expert in all keyhole surgery techniques (arthroscopic knee surgery), ligament repair & reconstruction (e.g. cruciate ligaments), partial and total knee replacement, re-alignment osteotomy, multi-ligament reconstruction & revision ACL reconstruction. Mr Wall also offers arthroscopic regenerative techniques for cartilage damage repair and meniscal cartilage repair utilising the latest research in stem-cell technology.
Treatment doesn't stop at surgery, and we work with patients during the recovery process helping them return to sport as smoothly as possible, ensuring a gradual build-up of activity that helps reduce chance of re-injury or further complications.
